5 truths about success

If you want to be successful, here are five things you need to know.

1. It’s hard work.

Success does not come easily, no matter what industry you’re in. It won’t be handed to you on a silver platter, there is no set formula, and you cannot expect great results if you don’t put in the effort.

As a networker, you know this is true. You can join the best direct selling company with the best products and the best compensation plan, but if you don’t work hard at it, you won’t get anywhere.

Never assume that success will just come. Unrealistic expectations lead to disappointment. For every disgruntled networker who doesn’t perform and complains the business doesn’t work, there are those who shed blood, sweat and tears, and achieve great success.

2. You’ll need help.

Even if you’re an expert in the field, there is always a new lesson to be learned. If you stop learning, you stop growing. People around you can enrich your existing knowledge and help you find new ways to succeed, whether by inspiring you or sharing new perspectives.

Try asking for feedback within your circles. Chances are you’ll be surprised by how much you can learn.

3. Mistakes are life’s lessons.

Life isn’t perfect, mistakes are guaranteed. The path to success is dotted with roadblocks that delay you and cause you to stumble. But when life hands you lemons, what do you do? Give up? No, you make lemonade.

Learn from your mistakes. Failing and falling gives you the chance to get up and rebuild, stronger than before. Because the second time round, you’re better prepared.

4. Be persistent and consistent.

To succeed, you’ll need to run life like a marathon, not a sprint. While you must keep working to achieve success, it’s also good to step back every now and then to re-evaluate your approach. Are you still on track? Are you still doing things as efficiently as you could be?

5. Keep motivating yourself.

What do you do after you’ve reached your goal? Is that it? Really successful people keep setting new goals for themselves, so they keep moving forward. Even after you’ve earned your first million, you can either move forward or take a step backward.

Remember, there is always someone who wants your spot at the top. If you want to stay number one, you have to motivate yourself constantly. That’s why self-help books, motivational material and seminars are so popular. (And that’s why this blog exists.)
