There are milestones in every network marketer’s life that they will always remember, like your first sign-up or your first cheque. What about “firing” your boss? Surely that’s a lifelong celebration milestone. For every person who has fired their boss, there are those who want to but haven’t been able to.
Want to fire your boss, but don’t know where to start? Here are 5 tips to learn to fire your boss… and do it smiling.
1. Begin with the end in mind.
What’s your end game? One of Steven Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is having a clear vision of who and where you want to be.
Develop your own mission statement: it reaffirms who you are, puts your goals in focus and turns your dreams into reality.
2. Be better at your job
Here is a truth: once you become successful in network marketing, it is still a job. Maybe you don’t need a uniform or go to the office, but it’s still work. Most of the top network marketers are CEOs of their organisations. Isn’t being a CEO a job?
Be better at your current job, whether you’re a student or a housewife, because those very skills will come in handy for your network marketing business. In fact, on top of the free training that you’re receiving, you’re also getting paid.
3. Be better in business.
Be honest: is there a business skill you need to learn? That’s why bosses send staff for training, and why people go back to school for MBAs. But the problem with MBAs is that they don’t teach you how to be a business owner; they teach you how to administrate your boss’ business!
There is always a necessary skill to be learned that will help you build a successful network marketing organisation. What if you saw these skills as necessary to build a successful organisation? If you realised this, would you place more importance on them at work? Now what if you saw your job, not as an obstacle to you being financially free, but as a preparatory school to learn how to be successful in business?
The next time you’re asked to make a presentation, just do it! It will prepare you for the presentations that you’ll make as a successful network marketer!
4. Be grateful.
Unemployment is still a major concern today, so it’s great that you have a job. Take it from one of the top network marketers, Randy Gage: don’t live out of your business. The income you make in your first two years should help you pay off your debts, not pay for your basic needs.
If you teach this to your people, running your business will be much easier. A very good tip from top network marketer, Vijay Eswaran, is to set 30% aside for your expenses.
5. Go full-time at the right time.
If you’re fantastic at your job, you’ll be able to impress your boss enough so that when you do fire him, he might beg you to stay… or even beg you to take him with you!
So if you want to fire your boss with a big smile, do it when you have enough savings and a strategic plan in place. If you go full-time at the right time, in the right way, then you will truly be able to experience the kind of life you never imagined you could live.
