He started the company in 1999 with 18 friends out of his humble apartment in Hangzhou, China and today, Alibaba has become one of the world’s biggest e-Commerce companies. His business empire has made him one of the world’s billionaires and he’s the first Chinese entrepreneur from the mainland to appear on the cover of Forbes Magazine. He was named the Financial Times’ 2013 Person of the Year for his being the ‘godfather of China’s scrappy entrepreneurial spirit.
